George
Fernandez grew up in Miami and attended Miami Senior High
School. Mr. Fernandez went on to attend Florida State
University, where he served as the student senate president, was
president of Omicron Delta Kappa, was on the debate team, and
was a member of FSU’s Gold Key. Mr. Fernandez was recognized
for his leadership by being selected as a Seminole Award winner
and was inducted into Gold Key’s Hall of Fame.
Mr. Fernandez
received his J.D. in 1992 from the Florida State University
College of Law. As a law student, he was the student body
attorney general, vice president of the moot court team, and was
a member of Phi Delta Phi legal fraternity. He was a member of
the Mock Trial Team and finished in first place in the Kerrigan,
Estess Mock Trial Competition as well as a semi-finalist in the
Florida Bar State Competition and the Southeast Regional
Competition.
As a Board
Certified Civil Trial Lawyer and Certified Circuit Court
Mediator, Mr. Fernandez practices civil litigation with primary
emphasis on personal injury, wrongful death, product liability,
and commercial and construction litigation matters. He has
developed a sub-specialty in roadway construction litigation and
is certified in Advanced Maintenance of Traffic through the
American Traffic Safety Services Association (ATSSA). Mr.
Fernandez' cases typically involve catastrophic injury, brain
injury, paralysis, and death. He has handled and tried numerous
cases involving multi-million dollar damage claims. He has been
honored as a Florida "Super Lawyer" from 2006- 2011 and was
recognized as a "Top South Florida Lawyer" by the South Florida
Legal Guide in 2011. He has received the highest attorney rating
issued by Avvo and has been an "AV Rated" attorney by
Martindale-Hubbell since 1997. Mr. Fernandez was formerly on the
Board of Directors of the Lawyer's Credit Union in Miami,
Florida, served on the Florida Bar Civil Procedure Rules
Committee, and chaired a Florida Bar Grievance Committee. He is
a member of the Florida Bar, the Dade County Bar Association,
the Cuban American Bar Association, and the National Hispanic
Bar Association.
